Dear Shepherds,

Thank you for your willingness to serve in this vital ministry area. Our district shepherd church ministry has the potential to be one of the most important avenues for connecting our district family.  As we all know, it is very important for the body of Christ to stay united as a community of believers. Often we focus our attention on the local church body; however, Jesus’ intention was much larger (1 Corinthians 12:12-14). The body of Christ is composed of all believers. As individuals we may not be able to connect with everyone everywhere, but we do have the responsibility to use our gifts for the benefit of all and support other members within the body (1 Corinthians 12:4-7). One way to do this is by connecting our 80 plus churches on SWO.

As a shepherd, you have the opportunity to connect with and support a manageable number of other youth workers in churches across our district. You can do this by contacting them on a regular basis to build relationships and to encourage them in their ministries. Also, you can do this by sharing your own expertise in youth ministry.  Shepherding also involves keeping them connected by letting them know of ministry opportunities, events and resources that our district has to offer. Please take a moment to look over the list to view the churches on your responsibility list.  I would then encourage you to contact each NYI President, Youth Pastor and Senior Pastor from the churches on your list.  You may find contact information online at www.swonaznyi.org and www.swonaz.org. Introduce yourself and inform them of our Shepherd Church ministry and begin the process of building relationships and connecting your churches with one another and the district.

Please pass on any updated information regarding the church contacts to Aimee Pritts (apritts@cinmar.com), Mary Oberer (swonaznyi@nazmail.com) and me (krjacksondds@msn.com). We are very interested in making sure that each NYI President or youth ministry contact receives Aimee’s emails and that they know about our website. Please make sure that the appropriate people at each of your churches are getting Aimee’s emails and that our website info is correct.

As individuals or even individual churches we can only do so much for the Kingdom.  By uniting with other individuals and churches within the Body we can do exponentially more for the Kingdom. Again, thank you very much for being a part of this vital ministry.  Please contact me with any questions, concerns or just to talk.  You may reach me by email at krjacksondds@msn.com or by phone at 937-689-2717.

Serving Him,

Kyle Jackson
SWO NYI President
