SUN. FEB. 10 at MONROE NAZ

6:00 - 8:30PM

Get the flyer

This isn’t about getting out of “the box” with our ideas and our energy. No, it’s about getting rid of “the box.” This is about daring.  Jesus said, “Go…” and sometimes it seems we aren’t GOing.  But wait…Do you hear that?  It is the sound of teenagers rising up for Christ and using their leadership skills, their talents and their imaginations.  It is the sound of youth pastors, youth workers and parents of teens rising up to inspire, teach, encourage and work alongside the teens they invest in and love who are choosing to make a difference for Christ.

Make plans to join us for LEADER D on Sunday February 10th from 6:00p.m. until 8:30p.m.at Monroe Nazarene for an evening of leadership development, team building, service project planning and fellowship.  Students will be working in groups to plan an outreach Fun Time Carnival and our Extreme Youth Room Make-over that we will be doing on Youth Serve Day in the Spring. The adults will be meeting together to discuss Building and Nurturing Excellent Student Leaders.  We are excited about this evening of worshipping God with our talents, and our time!  All SWO Naz youth pastors, youth workers, parents and students are encouraged to attend!  (Note: Anyone coming who can prove they read this in the district newsletter will win a special prize!)

Re-Thinking Youth Ministry
October 20, 2007

As we press into this new year of youth ministry across SWO, sometimes it is best if we can

. . . step back and think
. . . step back and dream
. . . step back and evaluate

Let's take some time to think about and Re-Think youth ministry

On Saturday October 20th, 9a to 1p at Springdale
SWO NYI is providing for you and your youth ministry team a FREE day of training
(this will be happening simultaneously with the SDMI Convention)

BEST WAY TO ATTEND:

   1.  Build a team to attend with you.  Invite current youth leaders and volunteers, key teenagers you want to develop into leaders, invite future youth leaders and volunteers.
   2.  Register on the districts website all those who are attending (NYI is free)
   3.  Attend the variety of seminars offered by NYI Leader D Training.  Have different people go to the different opportunities.  Meet later over lunch or even meet another day to re-visit the concepts and talk about what they learned.

*you will be receiving very soon from the district, all the seminar topics and time schedule

One youth pastor on our district received this email from a student . . .

"Hey I haven't told you enough how much of a difference you have made and are still making in my life. I take you for granted so much but really I am so so so blessed to have a youth pastor who doesn't just preach but who invests himself and his time to make us leaders and disciples. I see other youth pastors who talk about leadership but you push us to lead and you show us how to love God and others. Just thought you deserved to know."

I know this youth pastor.
Like every great youth pastor, they see themselves as a spiritual coach.
This teen understands the difference.

Let's Team Up for this training and take Youth Ministry to a new level of kingdom effectiveness and personal challenge.

Dream Team meeting Sunday, September 30
5:15 pm at West Chester Nazarene

"Example is not the main thing in influencing others. Its the only thing."
   Albert Schweitzer

If this be true, then maybe that is why Jesus chose the twelve.

I am not sure why your youth leader or youth pastor chose you but I think I know:
     -they believe in you
-they believe in who you can become
-they believe now is the time for you to shine
-they believe now is the time for you to learn to lead

Some of you are born leaders.  Put you in a room of chaos and somehow you will begin to make something take shape.  Even now you have difficulty fighting the desire to take over when someone else is leading poorly.

Some of you are like most of society- you have leadership potential.  Most of the leaders of today have learned by example and rose to the occasion to become what the occasion needed and then some.  You discovered that you can lead.

Nonetheless and moreover, this is our time.  SWO needs leaders to arise on many levels.

The SWO Dream Team begins this Sunday 5:15 at West Chester Nazarene.  We will be in Room 511. The easiest way to get there is through the south lobby, which is the large entrance in the new section of the building directly across the parking lot from the district office.  Once you enter those main doors there will be a hallway to your right, take that hallway all the way down to the last classroom on your right. To be on time is to be late.  Get there early.

+ Bring a regular sized bag of plain m&ms.

+ Be ready to take on a big meeting agenda, to dream, and to be active.

+ Leaders set the example.  So on this night, don't forget to meet or exceed the can food challenge.

Yes, this is 45 minutes before the Praise Rally begins.  Yes, somehow you will need to make plans to get there early.  Yes youth leaders who desire to attend also will have to figure out how to get themselves to the meeting and who will bring the others or what they will do while we meet together.

2007 NYI Report

SWO District Leaders & Teenagers,

Congratulations, you birthed a new baby ministry last year called Leader D.

Its full name is Leadership Development and is a SWO extension of Big Picture Training.  What is Leader D?  Our desired mission is to offer ongoing teaching and discipling, of both adults and teens, equipping them with ministry & leadership skills.

This year was pregnant with new possibilities.  We began last September at the Teach Re-Teach event; attendance, involvement, and equipping were amazing as we learned to see ourselves as “Spiritual Coaches.”  Great thanks to Candice Corwin, Kyle Jackson,  Scott Porter, and Aimee Pritts for making this event so successful.  Leader D  met again at Tri County Nazarene in November to brainstorm, learn skills of effective communication, and we discovered our leadership style.  When Jesus said “Go, and make disciples .  .,”  He knew that it was going to be difficult, yet the most vital and noble pursuit.

Who should attend Leader D seminars and events?  Youth Pastors and Youth Leaders who desire to learn and put into practice the words of Jesus by “making disciples.”  Attend by yourself or come with a team and use Leader D to train, inspire, and develop your team for youth ministry.  Bring key teenagers you believe are leaders and/or teens you desire to become leaders.

What is Leader D offering this year?

·          Definitely plan to attend the Leader D Kick Off, here at Springdale Nazarene on Saturday, October 20, 07.  We will have multi track seminars for you to attend and become equipped.

·          Youth Room Makeover – If your youth ministry is in a desperate need of an extreme makeover (so you can attract teenagers to Christ) Leader D wants to help come to your rescue.  Submit your heart cry request with current pictures to Mitch Pollic – youthpastor@wccn.net

·          We need to form a mission minded Dream Team who will commit to shaping, recruiting, and planning a Kids Carnival in the Spring during Youth Serve Day.

·          Beyond BLAST to MTO (Ministry to Others)  We desire to challenge teens and Youth Groups to travel in ministry (during the months of April and May) using their gifts and talents to inspire and serve other churches across SWO.

·          2 additional Leader D seminars during the year to assist you in Youth Ministry

·          Skiing and Sexuality Retreat – this overnight retreat will focus on enjoying life and setting purity as a lifelong value in our hearts. (details to be announced soon)

I can schedule two weekends this year to come and visit churches or zones that would like a discipleship & leadership training seminar for your Youth Ministry.  Contact me to make this happen.

Youth Leaders . . .  ‘Where are you leading youth?   Who is following? . . . Leader D wants to help.

Serving with You,
Mitch Pollic
Big Picture/Leader D Trainer
